Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-18
This policy explains what data is collected when you read yummo.top (the “Site”), why it is collected, who receives it, and what you can do about it. The Site is an informational publication about wild edible plants and their preparation. It has no accounts, no login, no newsletter and no shop, and it does not ask you for personal information in order to read anything on it.
1. What is collected automatically
When your browser requests a page, the web server records the request in an access log. That log contains your IP address, the date and time, the address of the page requested, the referring page if there was one, and the browser and operating system identification string your browser sends. Server logs are used to keep the Site running, to diagnose faults and to detect abusive traffic, and they are rotated and deleted on a rolling basis.
2. Advertising and Google AdSense
This Site is supported by advertising and uses Google AdSense, a service provided by Google LLC and its affiliates, to display ads.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this Site. Google uses the DoubleClick DART cookie, which enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and to other sites on the internet. Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may interest you.
The advertising cookies used by Google and its partners are not set by us and we do not have access to their contents. They may be used for interest-based advertising, frequency capping, and measuring how many ads have been shown and clicked.
You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google by visiting
Google Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads. You can opt
out of interest-based advertising from many other vendors at
https://www.aboutads.info/choices/ (Digital Advertising Alliance) or
https://www.youronlinechoices.com/ (European Interactive Digital Advertising
Alliance). Where required by law, a consent message is shown before
personalised advertising cookies are set, and you may refuse consent and still
read the Site; non-personalised ads may then be shown instead. Instructions for
managing cookies in your own browser are available in your browser’s help
pages, and you can delete cookies already stored at any time.
3. Analytics
Where measurement tools are enabled on the Site, they are configured to record aggregate traffic statistics — page views, referrers, approximate country and device class. Where an IP address is processed for this purpose it is truncated or anonymised before storage. Aggregate statistics cannot be used to identify you personally.
4. Legal bases under the GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the following legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation apply:
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for serving the Site, maintaining access logs, preventing abuse, and measuring aggregate readership. These interests are balanced against your rights; the data involved is minimal and short-lived.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for advertising cookies that are not strictly necessary, and for any non-essential measurement. Consent is requested before those cookies are set and can be withdrawn at any time through the consent message or your browser settings.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where records must be kept to comply with applicable law.
5. Your rights under the GDPR
Subject to the conditions in the Regulation, you have the right to:
- be informed about the processing described in this policy;
- obtain access to the personal data held about you;
- have inaccurate personal data rectified;
- have personal data erased (“right to be forgotten”);
- restrict or object to processing, including objection to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing;
- receive personal data you provided in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and to have it transmitted to another controller;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal;
- lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
Because the Site holds almost no personal data of its own, most requests of this kind will concern data held by Google as an advertising provider; where that is the case we will say so and point you to the provider’s own request mechanism.
6. Your rights under the CCPA / CPRA
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you the right to know what categories of personal information are collected, the right to know the purposes for which it is used, the right to request deletion of personal information, the right to correct inaccurate personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
We do not sell personal information for money. The use of advertising cookies by Google and its partners may constitute “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CPRA. To opt out, use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control in the consent message where it is shown, or use the industry opt-out links in section 2 above. Requests to know, delete or correct may be sent to the address in section 9; we will verify the request before acting and will respond within the time required by law.
7. International transfers and retention
Google and other third-party providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Those transfers rely on the providers' own safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Server access logs are retained for the short period needed for security and diagnostics and are then deleted or overwritten.
8. Children
This Site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to the Site, write to the address below and it will be deleted.
9. Security, changes and contact
The Site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
This policy may be updated when the tools used on the Site change. The date at the top of this page is the date of the most recent revision; material changes will be reflected there.
